
RIRIE, Idaho (KIFI) – An Idaho Falls man was killed Monday evening in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 26 east of Ririe, according to Idaho State Police.
The crash occurred at about 6:45 p.m. on July 6 near milepost 358. ISP said a 32-year-old Idaho Falls man was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent westbound when the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The driver of the Hyundai died at the scene.
The Chevrolet was driven by a 49-year-old woman from Jackson, Wyoming, and carried four passengers: a 24-year-old man from Jackson, a 53-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman from Mexico, and a juvenile.
The 53-year-old passenger was airlifted to a local hospital with injuries. The remaining occupants of the Tahoe were taken by ground ambulance.
The highway was blocked for about 4½ hours while emergency crews investigated and cleared the scene.
