Members of the local law enforcement community stopped by Sandhill to accept a $3,000 donation from Mark Radford of Kolby Offroad.

(IDAHO FALLS) –Mark Radford of Kolby Offroad met with police officers from Idaho Falls today at the NewsTalk 107.9 studio to make a special donation to the Shop With a Cop program on the Neal Larson Show. “I love helping other people. Christmas time is the time to do that, and Shop With a Cop is going to be a good thing for us to contribute to this year, ” said Radford.

Sgt. Brian Lovell with the Bonneville County sheriff’s office explained more about the program. “We’ve been doing this in Idaho Falls and Bonneville County for 25 years. We have kids that we find through the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center… [who have been in] situations where law enforcement has been involved and it’s been a negative situation for them.”

The children go to breakfast with the police officers and get to ride in a parade of cop cars to a department store. The kids are paired with an officer who helps them shop for family members and are given gifts for themselves as well.

Radford got involved with the program last year and said, “we were told that there were kids just asking for socks and for pants and for coats…so this money will go to that. I know it will help.” Radford had planned to donate $1,500.00 to the program but on air he doubled his gift and challenged other people to donate.

If interested in donating, you can go through the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center or contact Sgt. Lovell through the sheriff’s office or Idaho Falls police department on Facebook to arrange a donation. Today JB’s Soda Barn on 1st Street is also donating a portion of their proceeds to Shop With a Cop when customers make a purchase and say they want to support the program.
