Former solicitor general of Idaho, Theo Wold, explains the Idaho open primary ballot initiative (aka ranked choice voting initiative). The initiative would change Idaho’s entire voting system, override laws already in place, complicate forensic audits and alter Idaho’s state constitution. Wold does an immaculate job explaining the initiative’s ranked choice portion, which he argues threatens democracy and should be on a totally separate initiative from open primaries because it is a completely different issue. If open primaries and ranked choice voting are on a single ballot initiative, voters would have only one vote for two separate issues.
