IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) — A fire broke out at the Ball Ventures business office on Snake River Parkway Saturday morning, causing an estimated $250,000 or more in damage. Fortunately, Idaho Falls Firefighters say they were able to quickly knock it down, and the sole person inside escaped without injury.
According to IFFD, around 9:20 am dispatchers received word of black smoke and flames pouring from the roof of the office building.
When crews arrived on scene, flames were visible from the roof. Firefighters raced to begin suppression efforts, knocking down the heavy flames within minutes.
Firefighters say the damage was mainly concentrated on the third floor and roof, with extensive water damage throughout the rest of the building. While full assessments are ongoing, IFFD spokesperson Hayli Egbert says initial estimates place damages well above $250,000.
The sole occupant inside the building when the fire started managed to self-evacuate safely. No injuries were reported, and no occupants were displaced, though IFFD says normal business operations were disrupted.
Fire crews remain on scene Saturday morning to conduct overhaul operations and ensure any remaining hot spots are extinguished. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
