Customer charged with assault after throwing food at Pocatello restaurant staff

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) — A customer who didn’t like their food is facing legal charges and social media blowback after a Pocatello restaurant posted footage of the heated exchange online.

On Thursday, October 22nd, employees of the Mandarin House of Pocatello say a couple returned to the business after picking up a $60 meal. The couple told staff they didn’t like the food and demanded a refund.

Staff members attempted to resolve the issue by offering a partial refund and a gift card. However, the couple refused the offer, yelled at the workers, and threw a box of food at staff, prompting employees to call the police.

Court records indicate that the woman involved was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, while the man was issued a citation for disturbing the peace.

Footage of the incident shared by the restaurant quickly went viral across local Facebook groups.

Both individuals are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 19.
