I-15 Lane Closures and Traffic Shifts Planned Near Fort Hall

FORT HALL, Idaho —The Idaho Transportation Department announced that motorists traveling on northbound Interstate 15 near Fort Hall should expect lane closures and shifting traffic patterns this week as construction crews continue work to expand the highway.

Lane closures are in place, through Friday, Nov. 6, between 8 a.m. and midnight. The affected stretch spans from south of the Fort Hall Interchange at Exit 80 to the Sheepskin Road Bridge. At least one lane will remain open throughout the construction period, though drivers are warned to expect changing lane configurations and frequent construction vehicle activity.

State transportation officials advise motorists traveling northbound during peak afternoon hours to consider taking alternate routes to avoid potential delays. The upcoming work includes paving and striping northbound I-15 to three lanes, completing the northbound on-ramp at the Fort Hall Interchange, and installing guardrails, drainage infrastructure, and a concrete center barrier.

The ongoing construction is part of a larger project initiated in fall 2024 to widen I-15 to three lanes in both directions between Northgate and Fort Hall to increase capacity and improve safety. The full expansion project is scheduled for completion in 2027, and ITD encourages drivers to check 511.idaho.gov for real-time travel updates.
